Spring is in the air here, achoo! It's always visually pleasing but sinuses suffer to no end. April will be a busy month. I will be submitting work to the NEAVAL juried show. I will have a solo show at Something Art Cafe, and I will be vending at the annual Oasis Art Festival.
I'm still racking my brain about what to submit for the NEAVAL show. It can't be something for the solo show or what I plan on having at Oasis. I still have time to figure it out, though.
My solo show at Something Art Cafe will feature my mixed media collages that I have been working on for over a year now. I have been working diligently on this and am so excited to have it shown. I haven't posted anything about them (surprise) or put them on my website. I've kept it pretty secretive on purpose. This work isn't like my typical acrylic paintings, although honestly, I have been creating similar work since I was a teenager using my bedroom walls as my canvas. These pieces portray my personal feelings and sarcastic wit on being a woman. There will be an opening reception on Friday, April 3rd, from 7-9 pm. I'm going to actually promote it on social media and make flyers to hang and hand out.

Oasis will be Saturday, April 25th, from 12-6 pm on Main Street in downtown Jonesboro. I really hope the weather cooperates. Wind always seems to be an issue, which can suck and really alter how you want to display things. My solo show at Something will still be up, so I'm planning on having small pieces at my booth to promote that and encourage people to go see it. I will also have a couple of larger paintings, 24x36, priced very reasonably to clear out my stock.

I plan on writing another blog post before the Something Art Cafe opening. I'll delve deeper on the materials I used as well as my thought process while creating my collages.
